Sliding Compound Miter Saw Stand Plans

SKU Miter-saw-plan-1 Categories , Tags , ,

The miter saw is a highly valued piece of equipment in any shop which is exactly why it deserves an individual station. This plan package offers 12 detailed pages of how to construct this miter saw stand for a Sliding Compound Miter Saw. It features folding wings on both sides of the saw for cutting long material, a removable storage container for scraps, and a shelf for storing larger scrap pieces.

With the wings folded in the down position the stand measures 35″ tall (with casters), 31″ wide, and 20″ deep. With both of the wings lifted up you’re looking at a total of 84″ of usable space for cutting long material.

All dimensions are in standard units. These building plans were developed with my 10″ miter saw in mind, but can be modified easily to fit your particular saw if needed. The plans for this project include the following items:

  • A detailed list of raw materials, consumables, and quantities needed of each.
  • A color coded visual cut list of all the raw material.
  • Cut list overlaid onto 4’x8′ sheet of plywood and is smartly dimensioned for minimal waste.
  • About 8 easy to follow detailed steps which walk you through the entire construction of the stand.
  • All assembly steps are color coded for easy tracking and understanding.
  • Fully dimensioned CAD diagrams to eliminate any guess work.

In addition to this purchased item I have an instructional video of this build on my YouTube channel found HERE.

The plans are great. The miter saw stand is awesome and I love it.

Started yesterday with some left over 3/4 red oak plywood. Only thing that stopped us from finishing yesterday was we needed the back piece. So with a couple of minor alterations to your plans we got it complete today and 100% fully functional. We have a 12″ Dewalt miter saw, so its heavy. We added 2×4 supports along the edges of the saw tray. Still not sure how but one fold out tray no mater what I did, it swings out about 3/16s low at the meeting point once we started setting up plum. Still have a few extras we plan on putting on it but was using it this after noon. Thanks for the easy to understand plans.

In what is most likely user error, I didn’t find in the plans a recommendation to measure the width of the saw before doing the cuts. So I ended up needing to make the width an extra 1/2 in wider to accommodate, which meant using more ply. Also, I didn’t find the instructions clear about “installing” the 12×1 inch. I didn’t find where in the instructions what was meant by that or what hardware I should use. I am a novice wood worker, so just a cautionary note for other novices who may be contemplating these plans. My casters and piano hinges didn’t come with screws as well, so that was one extra thing to go back to the store for. I wish I had paid attention when ordering. Overall though I thought they were good!

Curious why this plan expires from a paid order and others don’t?
